Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh reacted to his maiden India call-up for the upcoming Asian Games 2023. He said that although he’s a strong guy, when he will wear the national team’s jersey for the first time there will be tears in his eyes.

But who knew that BCCI had something different for him. On Friday (14th July) Indian squad for the Asian Games was announced and the 5th name on the list was Rinku Singh. The hard work of many years finally paid off for him and in just a few months from now he’ll be donning an Indian jersey.

Rinku Singh, who made himself a great name in the IPL, was a leading run-getter for Kolkata Knight Riders in the league with over 470 runs. The southpaw was the mainstay for his team in the league as he carried them throughout the season and won them games from impossible positions.

Reacting to his maiden Indian call-up, Rinku Singh said that he hasn’t given a thought about the future but he dreamt to play for India. He reflected on his family’s emotions and said that when he’ll wear an Indian jersey it’ll be dedicated to him. Speaking to RevSportz, he said:
“Everyone dreams to play for India, wear that jersey. I don’t think a lot about the future because the more you think, the more burden you put yourself under. I take life as one day at a time. But yes, whoever takes up professional sports wants to represent their country one day or the other.
“I know for a fact that my family, my parents will be happier than me to see me wear the Indian jersey. They have been waiting for this for years now. They have seen my struggle, they have helped me, been with me through all my ups and downs. The day I don the jersey will be a day dedicated to them.”

Rinku Singh further went on admit that there might be some tears for him when he wears the Indian jersey for the first time. Speaking about the same, he explained:
“I am a strong guy but a bit emotional as well. I am pretty sure there will be some tears when I wear the India jersey for the first time. It has been a long and tough journey.”
It remains to be seen if Rinku Singh makes his debut for the Indian team in the Asian games or before that. The batter might see himself in the squad for Ireland.
