Australian pacer Michael Neser has been released from the Ashes 2023 squad for county cricket. The pacer will join back the squad ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester according to Cricket.com.au

Neser was added to the Australian squad for the third Test along with wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson. However, none of them found a place in the XI as the Aussies backed Alex Carey as the first-choice keeper and Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc as pace spearheads.

Michael Neser To Play County Cricket For Glamorgan

Fast bowler Michael Neser has been released from the Australian squad to play County Cricket for Glamorgan against Leicestershire this week.

Neser will play County Cricket for Glamorgan against Leicestershire this week. Neser has played two Test matches and two ODIs for Australia picking nine international wickets in total so far.

Meanwhile, England are chasing 251 runs for victory in the third Test match at Headingley. This happened after Australia were bowled out for 263 in their first innings while England in response scored 237. The Aussies in their second innings were bowled out for 224 leaving England 251 runs to win.

Australia are leading the Test series 2-0 and a win in the third Test will ensure them an Ashes series win in England for the first time since 2000/01. The hosts are closing in on a victory with just over 100 runs required on day 4.

For Australia, Nathan Lyon will take no further part in the remaining Ashes series as he will head back home for rehab after picking up a calf injury in the Lord’s test. Australia won the Test match by 43 runs as Lyon braved his injury and came out to bat in the second innings.

Lyon took to his official Twitter handle and posted about him returning back home after recovering from his injury. “Heading home for rehab wasn’t my plan A but #Ashes2023 will continue as a great contest and this team is up for the challenge,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

After Edgbaston, Lord’s hosted the second Ashes Test from June 28-July 2. Headingly is hosting the third test from July 6-10. Manchester (July 19-23) and The Oval (July 27-31) will host the final two Test matches to wrap up the series.
