The Netherlands Cricket team won a thriller against West Indies. The match was tied after a grueling last over bowled by Alzarri Joseph. West Indies‘ lanky pacer Jason Holder conceded 30 runs in the super over as he was whacked around the park by Logan van Beek.
The Netherlands quite easily defended 31 runs and took 2 scalps and won the super over by 22 runs. West Indies have lost two back-to-back contests against Zimbabwe & Netherlands which is not a good sign.

Earlier after being asked to bat first by Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023, West Indies posted a mammoth score of 374-6. Nicholas Pooran continued his purple patch as the destructive left-handed batter smashed a ton and scored 104 runs in 65 balls and struck 9 fours and 6 sixes.
At the back end of the innings, it was Keemo Paul, the batter scored 46 runs in 25 balls and struck 4 fours and 2 sixes. There was carnage as all the variations of Netherlands’ bowlers were proving to be ineffective.

In response to the 375 target, the Netherlands got off to a decent start as the top order got starts and were quite keen on building partnerships and didn’t panic even after losing wickets in quick succession.
Teja Nidamanuru and Scott Edwards stitched a crucial partnership of 143 runs in 90 balls and the duo were seen taking calculative risks. Teja Nidamanuru played a fine knock of 111 runs in 76 balls and struck 11 fours and 3 sixes.
Roston Chase was the pick of the bowlers but skipper Shai Hope perhaps made a mistake by giving the 49th over to the spinner as he conceded 21 runs in his last over of the spell. There was some sheer power hitting of Logan van Beek which proved to be the difference in the end.

The Netherlands would be over the moon as this win would give them immense confidence ahead of the Super 6 stage. The Netherlands made a statement that they are a team to beat and chasing 375 says a lot about the team’s dynamics.
