MI vs SRH: “I Knew Today Or Tomorrow That Knock Would Come Soon”- Suryakumar Yadav Opens Up On How He Overcame His Poor Form

Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 21st May (*Sunday) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav has been in red-hot form in IPL 2023 and so far has amassed 486 runs in 13 innings and has struck 4 half-centuries and 1 ton.

This is a must-win match for the 5-time IPL winners if they want to qualify for the playoffs. MI are placed at 6th position on the points table with 14 points from 13 matches and an NRR of -0.12. MI though would be worried as their pacers are getting whacked around the park.

The Aiden Markram-led side are languishing at the bottom of the points table with 8 points from 13 matches. Earlier in the tournament MI won a thriller against SRH as the visitors would be eyeing revenge and dragging MI out of the tournament.

All eyes would be on MI skipper Rohit Sharma who has had a topsy-turvy tournament. The role of veteran spinner Piyush Chawla would be pivotal who so far has been providing major breakthroughs in the crunch moments of the match and has taken 20 wickets in 13 innings.

I knew I was batting well in the nets- Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav was seen attending the press conference ahead of the SRH clash. Suryakumar said that he didn’t change his technique after a string of low scores earlier in the tournament.

Suryakumar pointed out that he worked more into the nets and was quite optimistic that he would get a big score under his belt when he smashed a match-winning knock against PBKS recently. Suryakumar said that the side are considering it as just another game against SRH.

“I didn’t change anything, I was only thinking what I have done well in the last two years which has helped and worked for him. I sticked to it and continued to do the same thing, be it coming to the nets or spending time outside with the family or teammates. I knew I was batting well in the nets and everything was going well in the nets. I knew today or tomorrow that knock would come soon,”

“It’s just another game for us. Yes, from outside it looks that it is a big game and we have to wait for others’ results. But we know what we have been doing here at Wankhede in last 4-5 games. We know our strength and strong areas so we will back that and we will focus on that only,” he added.
