SRH vs RCB Match Preview: IPL 2023, Match 65

SRH vs RCB Match Preview: IPL 2023, Match 65. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 65 of IPL 2023 in Hyderabad. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and is the last match in Hyderabad. For RCB, this is a must-win game as is their last against Gujarat Titans to get through to the playoffs.

RCB are heading into this game after winning their last match against Rajasthan Royals. They posted 171/5 batting first and bowled out the Royals for just 59. The 112-run boosted their NRR and took them up to the fifth position on the points table.

SRH were the second team to get eliminated from IPL 2023 after their loss to Gujarat Titans. They can now play perfect party spoilers for RCB who are closing in on making the playoffs.

This is the first time both these teams are playing each other this season. Overall, both sides have played 22 matches with SRH winning 12 and RCB nine games. One game ended in a no-result. Both teams won a game each last year. In the match where SRH won they bowled out RCB for just 68. They would like to replicate something similar to derail RCB’s campaign.

Speaking about IPL 2023, all 10 teams will play 14 games during the tournament which will include home and away games. Four teams that finish in the top four spots in the points table will qualify for playoffs. Gujarat Titans are the defending champions of IPL 2023.

The IPL is back to its home and away format with the home teams looking to win all their matches at home. This is a good opportunity for Sunrisers Hyderabad to win their last league game at home. The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has a reputation for producing high-scoring contests.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH had a forgetful campaign this season, where they promised more than delivered. They never seemed to have found the perfect playing combination and struggled with consistent chopping and changing. Big-money buys like Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal did not perform and a few of their retained players did not perform consistently as well.

Skipper Aiden Markram did not perform with the bat which added pressure on his captaincy as well. They lost a few close games which they should have won and did not use their resources properly. World Cup-winning spinner Adil Rashid played just two games and then was benched as the team struggled to find the right combination.

Back at home, playing their last game, they would like to end with a win and bring a smile back to the loyal fans. They have now league games remaining against RCB and MI and they can play the perfect party spoilers. If they manage to win both games, both MI and RCB will have to depend on other results for their playoff qualification.

Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Abhishek Sharma, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, Adil Rashid, Mayank Markande, Vivrant Sharma, Samarth Vyas, Sanvir Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Dagar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Anmolpreet Singh, Akeal Hosein

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Their previous win against RR boosted their NRR. However, they still need to win their remaining two games to guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs. Like many teams, RCB have played some inconsistent cricket but their win against Rajasthan Royals came at the right time.

Two wins will guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. However, if they win only one of their remaining two games, they will have to depend on other results to go their way. They will need the loser of the LSG vs MI game to lose their final league game and Punjab Kings to lose one of their last two league games. If things go their way, they can qualify as they have a far superior NRR.

They would ideally want to replicate their performance against RR against the Sunrisers who are themselves not playing good cricket at the moment. After such a big win, they would not consider changing their playing XI as well.
