GT vs LSG: “We Set A Benchmark Last Year And Just Continued From There” – Wriddhiman Saha On Gujarat Titans’ Dominance Over IPL In The Last 2 Years

Gujarat Titans (GT) wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha recently commented on his team’s IPL dominance over the last two seasons, saying that they set the benchmark and are now building upon it.

GT have had an unreal time during its year-and-a-half existence in the largest cricket league in the world. Introduced in 2022 along with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Titans’ were far from favorites to make it to the playoffs in their inaugural season. Not only did they finish on the tabletop, but also went on to win the tournament on their first attempt.

After a comprehensive win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their most recent match, Wriddhiman Saha said in the post-match press conference that Gujarat Titans are just building upon the benchmark they set last year. before praising his team for their win over RR. He said –

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)

“We set a benchmark last year and just continued from there. All our bowlers have been contributing which is always a good sign.

“The plan was to maximize in the powerplay and today I got some confidence after timing a few balls and after the powerplay it is just about rotating the strike. I try to move really late against Rashid and Noor because it is important to read their variations because the angle is really low.”

In GT’s exceptional fielding performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) earlier this week, Saha showed his class with some spectacular catches and stumpings.

While diving and catching to dismiss Manish Pandey in that match, Wriddhiman Saha reached his 100th IPL dismissal, a rare feat.
