DC vs RCB: “BCCI Should Step In” – Manoj Tiwary Urges The Board To Take Action On The Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir Saga

Veteran batter Manoj Tiwary urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) to step in and take action to prevent repeating on-field incidents like the Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir verbal spat. Major Tiwary said that the BCCI should find the root cause of the on-field rivalries and maintain healthy competition between players.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in a heated argument during the match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Team mentor Gautam Gambhir took Kyle Mayers while he was having a conversation with Kohli, and it flared up the verbal spat between the two players.

Young People Want To Become Like Virat Kohli – Manoj Tiwary

Manoj Tiwary shared his opinion on the Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir saga and believes that the fines were not able to stop similar incidents.

“BCCI should step in. This is not a pleasant sight, especially when you are an ambassador of the game, you shouldn’t do such things. IPL is one of the most popular tournaments in the world, a lot of people watch it, especially youngsters.”

“A lot of young people want to become like Virat Kohli. So, it is important to find the root cause of clashes like these. Healthy competition is good for the sport but not incidents like these,” Manoj Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.

This Is Not The Right Example To Set – Manoj Tiwary

The Bengal cricketer said that Gambhir was one of the main reasons for India winning the two World Cups in 2007 and 2011. Tiwary highlighted that players should be remembered for their milestones and not for their behavior on the field.

“This cannot go on. These two are icons as I had said earlier. When icons quit cricket, people want to remember them for what they have done on the field rather than other things,” he added.

“People mostly will remember Gambhir for his aggression, that will be the first thing that will come to their mind. They will forget that he has played a major role in India winning two World Cups. This should not happen. This is not the right example to set,” he concluded.

Manoj Tiwary shared the dressing room with Gautam Gambhir while representing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL. The right-handed batter was part of the title-winning squad in the IPL 2012 and smashed the winning runs in the final match of the tournament.
