DC vs RCB: “I Spoke With Him 10 Days Before He Died,” Kuldeep Yadav On Shane Warne; Talks About The Learnings From Him

Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav talked about the late Shane Warne. He said that he spoke to the former spinner 10 days before his death and opened up about the learnings from him. 

Australian spin wizard Shane Warne passed away in March last year. The former leg-spinner suffered a heart attack in his villa in Thailand at the age of 52. He was found unresponsive in his room and his demise shook every cricket lover.

Shane Warne was one of the best spinners in the game of cricket with over 1000 wickets across the formats. The legendary bowler sits second on the list of highest wicket-taker in the league with 708 scalps and also has 293 wickets in the 50-over format.

Kuldeep Yadav revealed that he was in constant touch with Shane Warner and he actually cried after hearing the news about his sad demise. Speaking in the latest episode of Breakfast with Champions, he said:

“I was shocked to hear about his demise. I actually cried. I didn’t understandâ€æ It felt like someone close to me passed away. I was always in touch with him. I spoke with him 10 days before he died. 

“Sometimes, I used to feel proud that I had seen him (Shane Warne) on TV. And then, I became his friend. I got to learn from him at the same time. And I want to do what he has done.”

DC vs RCB: He had tears in his eyes when I dedicated my five-wicket haul to him 

Kuldeep Yadav has been among the growing spinners in India. The leg-spinner has performed reasonably well in the longest format of the game. He has played 8 Tests, picking up 34 wickets and also has a five-wicket haul in Australia. 

Kuldeep Yadadv revealed that Shane Warne helped him a lot during the Australia tour. He recalled how he told him to b happy on the ground and when he took a five-wicket haul, the leg-spinner had tears in his eyes. He elaborated: 

“He helped me a lot during the Australia tour. I was a little nervous before the match. I used to meet him in the morning. He came to me and said, ‘I don’t know what you are going to bowl, but I want you to be happy on the ground. I will be watching you from the pavilion. It doesn’t matter how you bowl. Just do it with a smile’. 

“So, I remembered this. And I was doing the same thing on the ground. I did not feel the pressure in that match. And when I took five wickets, I dedicated it to him. He had tears in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. So, he has influenced my life a lot.” 

Kuldeep Yadav is currently playing IPL 2023 with Delhi Capitals. He has taken 8 wickets so far in 9 games at an economy of 6.74.
