The defending champions England have a strenuous task on their hands to win the ODI WC 2023. The left arm pacer Reece Topley has been in & out of the side due to injuries. Reece Topley couldn’t make a case for himself in the recently concluded South Africa ODI Series where he was wicket-less in 2 matches.

England would back themselves to come good at the marquee event after beating Bangladesh in ODI Series in their own back-yard by 2-1. The problem with England is that all of their star players haven’t played together which is a concern for the team.

I missed the 2019 World Cup when I was injured- Reece Topley
Reece Topley was seen having an interaction with Sky Sports. Reece Topley was quite disappointed to miss out on the 2019 WC due to injury. Reece Topley missed the final of the T20 WC 2022 due to a ligament injury and was quite upset that he missed that as well. Reece Topley stated that he feels alienated after watching the match as a fan.
“I missed the 2019 [World Cup] – that was purely when I was injured. If I wasn’t injured, I think I would have been involved with that, similarly with this World Cup just gone, if I wasn’t injured I think I would have been – not just a part of it – I think I would have played a lot,” said Reece Topley.

“I feel almost alienated from it just because you’re used to being in the changing room and then you’re suddenly watching it as a fan. It’s not your win. So, I’m desperate to contribute for England in a World Cup when the opportunity comes,” he added.
