RCB vs RR: “It Could Be Rumour Mongering…” – Shane Watson Reacts To A ‘No-Handshake’ Incident Between Virat Kohli And Sourav Ganguly

Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson reacted to the controversy involving Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 15. Shane Watson said that the controversy could be “rumour mongering,” but he wasn’t sure about the incident.

Virat Kohli gave a death stare to Delhi Capital’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly after tagging a catch at the DC dugout. Some Fire In Virat’s Kelly – Shane Watson

When asked about the controversy between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli, the former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson said that he didn’t want to get involved in it. Wason admitted that there was ‘fire in the belly’ of Virat Kohli.

“It could be rumour-mongering, but I’m not sure. So, it’s not something I want to get involved in,” Shane Watson said on Grade Cricket’s YouTube channel.

“But there was definitely some fire in Virat’s belly, that’s for sure. For an opposition point of view, that’s the last thing you need as well. Virat, when he’s like that, that’s when he’s at his absolute best. Whatever reason that was, I’m not exactly sure,” Watson added.

The rift between Virat and Sourav began after Kohli was sacked as ODI captain and replaced by Rohit Sharma during Ganguly’s tenure as BCCI president. After this incident, Virat Kohli resigned from the Test captaincy during the 2021 tour of South Africa. Later, Roger Binny took over as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from Sourav Ganguly.

The Bangalore-based franchise beat the Delhi Capitals by 23 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Virat was named Player of the Match for his blistering half-century of 50 runs off 30 with the help of six fours and a six. The 34-year-old is one of the crucial batters in the Royal Challengers line-up in the ongoing edition of the IPL, as he provided good starts in the powerplay.
