Ashes 2023: Australia Hoping For Josh Hazlewood To Be Fully Fit By The Series Against England

Australian cricket management is hopeful that ace pacer Josh Hazlewood will be fit for the team’s six-Test tour in England, where they will play ICC World Test Championship Final against India followed by five-Test Ashes 2023 series.

Josh Hazlewood has been out of the action for a while now. The pacer suffered an Achilles tendonitis injury during Australia’s home season and since then has been out of action. He missed the Test series against India and has also been on the sidelines in the ongoing IPL 2023.

Australia’s chair of selectors George Bailey said that they are hopeful that Josh Hazlewood will be back to his full capacity through IPL and will be at his best in the Ashes 2023. He said (as quoted by Cricbuzz):

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)

“Josh Hazlewood is still building back to his full capacity through the IPL, so hopefully he gets a few games over there in the back half of that tournament and starts to ramp up his return. He’s reasonably experienced. He’s very professional. Josh. He knows exactly what and where he’ll need to be to be at his best for the Ashes.”
