RCB vs DC: “David Warner Is Putting A Lot Of Pressure On Himself And The Others” – Chris Gayle Questions Delhi Capitals Skipper’s Approach

Chris Gayle, the former West Indies cricketer, has expressed his disappointment over David Warner’s slow strike rate and the negative impact it is having on the Delhi Capitals team in the ongoing IPL 2023.

Gayle believes that Warner’s experience should be enough to recognize the problem and work on improving his game. David Warner has scored 209 runs with three fifties in the tournament so far, making him a strong contender for the Orange Cup.

However, his strike rate has been a concern for the team, as he has been scoring at a little over 110. In the recent match against the Mumbai Indians, David Warner struggled to get going, and despite Manish Pandey’s quick scoring at the other end, the team suffered a mini-collapse, going from 76 for 1 to 98 for 5.

Axar Patel’s quickfire knock of 54 off 25 balls helped Delhi Capitals post a respectable total. David Warner was eventually dismissed for 51 off 47 balls in the 19th over, which further highlights his inability to score at a quick pace.

Gayle’s comments may put pressure on David Warner to improve his strike rate and play a more aggressive role in the team. The top-order collapse is putting extra pressure on the middle order, and with Prithvi Shaw also struggling to find his form, the Delhi Capitals need their experienced players to step up and take charge.

“In the first 6 overs, he showed a bit of intent and tried to be positive there. The wicket was very good to bat on in the powerplay. But he is putting a lot of pressure on himself and the other players as well.”

“Players feel they have to come incase he is not getting to ball away, they pretty much have to go from ball one and that is causing Delhi a lot of problems in the middle. So that’s something he needs to work on. He is experienced enough to know what to do. He spoke about it in the previous game.”
