While bowling the last over of the match, he was hit for 5 consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh, who won KKR the match. The tally of 31 runs is the most conceded in the final over of a successful run chase in IPL history.

“He told me that somehow the ball was slipping out and he was not having a proper grip on the night as he missed his yorkers. Even he tried a slower one from the back of his hand, that too was smashed.”

Yash Dayal’s father consoled him, saying that these are the moments that makeup cricket, but the young bowler needs to come back stronger.

A thrashing of this magnitude would affect any bowler, let alone a 25-year-old uncapped Yash Dayal. To prevent more doubt from creeping into his mind, his teammates at GT helped the pacer to be in a better state of mind.
Chandrapal Dayal told PTI what his son told him about how the team was making him feel better.
“They made him sit in the centre [in the dressing room] and consoled him. Later, there was naach-gaana [dance, music] and they spent some light moments with him,” he told.

Yash Dayal was instrumental in Gujarat Titans’ successful IPL campaign in 2022, taking 11 wickets in 9 matches with an average of just under 27. He has proved to be an effective bowler in the past. The question is, can he get past this nightmare performance soon enough for the team’s next match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 13.
