While only time will tell how Harry Brook performs in his maiden IPL season, the England batsman has failed to start the tournament on a good note. The spotlight was firmly on the England sensation when he came out to bat in the ongoing game between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.

In the mini-auction, SRH had splashed a whopping Rs 13.25 crore to secure his services after his red-hot performances for England in the international arena. He arrived in India for the ongoing IPL after a stunning Test series in New Zealand where he registered scores of 89, 54, 186 and 0.

Unsurprisingly, the expectations were sky-high from Harry Brook when he came out to bat against RR. SRH were firmly on the backfoot while chasing an improbable total of 204 runs. Veteran pacer Trent Boult had SRH reeling at 0 for 2 after dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi for ducks in the very first over.

Harry Brook came out to bat after Tripathi’s dismissal and just could not live up to the expectations. He began his innings on a positive note by dispatching the third ball he faced for a four. However, it was definitely not a precursor of the things that were to follow. In the next 18 balls he faced, he managed to score only 10 runs before India ace Yuzvendra Chahal ended his painful stay at the crease.

The leg-spinner castled the right-handed batsman to leave SRH reeling at 34 for 3. It was a skiddy delivery from Chahal and Harry Brook perhaps expected it to spin away. The SRH batsman rocked back as he seemingly wanted to play the square cut. The ball, however, did not spin away and outfoxed Brook before going on to hit the stumps. And as Brook failed to deliver on his IPL debut, he was brutally trolled on social media.
