IND vs AUS: Mitchell Starc Is One Of The Greatest Australia Ever Had – Shaun Tait Lavishes Praise On Star Bowler After Stunning Set Of Performances

Mitchell Starc, the Australian fast bowler, received high praise from Shaun Tait, who believes that Starc is one of the greatest white-ball bowlers the country has produced and is close to achieving that status. Starc’s recent performance in the second ODI against India, where he took his ninth five-wicket haul, helped Australia win by 10 wickets and level the series 1-1. He has now taken 219 wickets in 109 ODIs, with an impressive bowling average of 21.78.

During the second ODI against India on Sunday, Mitchell Starc put up a phenomenal bowling performance by taking four wickets in the first powerplay, including those of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul.

He then completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Mohammed Siraj, which led to India being bowled out for a meager total of 117 runs. Starc’s expertise in swinging the ball back in made life difficult for the Indian batsmen with the new ball.

Mitchell Starc Is Brave Enough To Pitch The Ball Up, No Matter What The Conditions Are: Shaun Tait

According to Shaun Tait, a former Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, much like Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, focuses on swinging the ball by pitching it up. Starc had also claimed three early wickets with the new ball in the series opener against India, troubling their batters.

“I think it’s been the same for him. He just wants to swing the ball and get on the stumps basically. Conditions helped him out a little bit again. Even in Mumbai, it had something for the fast bowlers and obviously, it did today as well. I think he got it right and the batters got it wrong. He reminds me a little of Shaheen Afridi where no matter what the conditions are, he is brave enough to pitch the ball up, almost half-volley length on the stumps and backing his pace. Mitchell Starc is close to one of the greatest bowlers Australia has ever had in white-ball cricket,”

“There has been an issue. It’s a struggle for a lot of batters. A left-armer who bowls at around 145 and can swing the ball is dangerous for anybody. Today, for example, what the Indian players did wrong was to setup for as if it was a flat pitch. Walking across the stumps and playing some loose shots. I think the conditions today didn’t allow for that. It was probably a wicket where you had to spend some time and get through the tough periods,”

Following their significant loss, India will be looking to make a strong comeback in the third and final ODI of the series. With each team winning one game, the final match is expected to be a thrilling affair before we transition to yet another exciting season of the Indian Premier League.
