At the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) sought to fill 10 spots, four of which were international. With 15 players still on the roster, the franchise still had 23.35 crores in its bank account.
The team will once more be led by KL Rahul. He leads them to the IPL 2022 semifinals. Group A includes Lucknow along with KKR, MI, RR, and DC.
With KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock as their opening pair, LSG had a stable lineup. They required a couple of all-rounders, a top-notch middle-order batsman, and an international pacer to fill in for Mark Wood.
In their inaugural season, they formed their team around all-rounders, and this season is no different. Despite the England bowler missing the previous season due to injury, they still kept Mark Wood. Jason Holder, Andrew Tye, Manish Pandey, Evin Lewis, Dushmanta Chameera, and Shahbaz Nadeem were a few of the players they discharged.
The IPL 2023 mini-auction registered 991 players, including 714 Indians and 277 foreigners. The BCCI then reduced the Indian Premier League (IPL) roster from 991 to 405 players. 273 of the 405 cricket players are Indian, 132 are from abroad, and 4 are from associate countries. The auction had a cap of 87 players, 30 of them were foreign players.
They had three primary requirements going into the auction: an Indian middle-order batsman, an Indian pacer, and an Indian spinner.
