IND vs AUS: ‘The Power Was Given To Rohit Sharma’- Big Revelation By BCCI On Why KL Rahul Was Fired As Team India’s Vice Captain For 3rd and 4th Test vs Australia

The teams for the final two Test matches and the three-game ODI series against Australia were unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). While players like Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul returned to the ODI team, the Test lineup stayed largely unchanged from the first two matches with one minor adjustment.

KL Rahul, who is struggling with his play in the longest format of the game, was removed from the position of vice-captain, leaving the team without a vice-captain.

Rahul was relieved of his ODI vice-captaincy prior to the three-match series against Sri Lanka in January 2022. Despite his presence in the squad, Hardik Pandya was designated as Rohit’s deputy.

The right-handed hitter has suffered recently, particularly in red-ball cricket. He has not batted in the ongoing series against Australia, and his problems stretch back to the South African tour in January last year when he wilted after a promising start.

Why KL Rahul has been removed as Team India’s vice-captain?

The report further stated that Rohit has been granted authority by the selectors and management to appoint his deputy. The pressure has been building on Rahul the batter as the youthful opener Shubman Gill, who has been in the best shape of his life across formats, has been warming the bench, and with no vice-captain tag currently, the team management may seek a change in the Indore game.

“It was decided not to name any vice-captain. Instead, the power was given to Rohit Sharma. Who will lead the side in case he has to leave the field is Rohit Sharma’s call,” a source told the publication.

Many people believe KL Rahul’s position in the starting Eleven is due to the fact that he serves as the team’s vice-captain. Shubman Gill has made good progress and is currently sitting on the sidelines with a streak of impressive performances.

From March 1 onward, would India have a new vice-captain for Test matches, perhaps R Ashwin or Cheteshwar Pujara? The information will only be available on the team sheet after the toss.
