Football fans have demanded Nike release Mary Earps' shirt after the shot-stopper won the Golden Glove at the Women's World Cup.
England fans are unable to buy Earps' Shirt, with Nike deciding against selling a replica goalkeeper jersey ahead of the World Cup. Earps has since gone on to win the Golden Glove - and she even stopped a penalty in the World Cup final.
Jennifer Hermoso was handed the golden opportunity to send Spain two goals up, but Earps guessed right: denying Hermoso from 12 yards. And the save promoted many fans to demand Nike release her shirt for purchase.
"For God’s sake, Nike, sort Mary Earps fans a shirt because she has been absolutely phenomenal," one fan tweeted. While a second added: "F*** it, I'm making my own Mary Earps shirt!"
"Loved seeing Mary Earps winning the Golden Glove. Can we buy her shirt yet," a third said. And another added: "Mary Earps is about to play in a World Cup Final. And kids still can't buy her shirt. Sort it out!"
Nike issued a statement on Sunday - with the company admitting it's “working towards solutions for future tournaments".
Ahead of the tournament, Earps admitted: "I can’t really sugar-coat this in any way, so I am not going to try. It is hugely disappointing and very hurtful.
“It is very, on a personal level, it is obviously hugely hurtful considering the last 12 months especially, and also I think there has been an incredible rise in goalkeeping participation over that year.
“For my own family and friends and loved ones not to be able to buy my shirt, they are going to come out and wear normal clothes and I know that sounds like ‘Oh Mary, what a horrible problem’, but on a personal level that is really hard."
