Harry Kane Reportedly Demanded High Salary Before Joining Bayern Munich Instead of Manchester United

Reports suggest that Harry Kane had sought a substantial salary in order to sign with Manchester United.

Kane has officially completed his transfer to Bayern Munich, securing a four-year contract that could be valued at up to £100 million. He is scheduled to make his debut for the Bavarian team in the upcoming German Super Cup match against RB Leipzig.

At 30 years old, Kane will proudly wear the No.9 jersey for his new Club. He expressed, "I'm thrilled to now be a member of FC Bayern. Bayern stands as one of the most prominent clubs globally, and I've consistently voiced my ambition to compete and prove my capabilities at the highest echelons of my profession. Being part of this club with its strong winning mentality feels truly gratifying."

Having clinched the Premier League Golden Boot three times while at Spurs, Kane's impressive tally of 213 Premier League goals leaves him merely 48 goals away from Alan Shearer's esteemed league record.

With a mere year left on his Tottenham Hotspur contract, Kane attracted the interest of several clubs during the summer transfer window, eventually leading to Bayern's intensified pursuit.

Initially, Manchester United, who ultimately secured Rasmus Hojlund for £73 million, was reportedly intrigued by the prospect of signing the England captain.

The Athletic reports that United's manager, Erik ten Hag, held great admiration for Kane, designating the center-forward as his primary striker target.

However, it soon became evident that finalizing a deal with Tottenham would prove challenging for United. The club received indications that Tottenham was unwilling to entertain offers from another English club.

In fact, United was determined to avoid a protracted transfer saga that could disrupt their summer plans, learning from the experiences of their rivals, Manchester City.

According to The Athletic, United also aimed to prevent a recurrence of the previous summer's scenario. During that time, they invested significant effort in pursuing Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona, only to fall short of an agreement.

Crucially, The Athletic alleges that United perceived Kane's demand for an exorbitant £30 million per year salary (£576,000 per week). Nevertheless, whether this information was accurate remains uncertain.

Furthermore, the publication adds that even if United had pursued the matter more vigorously, it was believed that Kane's preference was still leaning toward Bayern. This inclination arose due to the absence of a guarantee that Ten Hag's team was fully prepared to contend for the most prestigious accolades in the sport.

Notably, Bayern Munich celebrated their 33rd Bundesliga title in the previous season, accompanied by six Champions League victories and 20 German Cup triumphs.
