Premier League boss 'investigated by police over alleged rape of teenage girl'

The individual at the centre of the allegation, who attended a police station voluntarily with his solicitor earlier this month, is said to "totally refute" the claim

A Premier League boss has reportedly been questioned by police over a historical rape allegation.

It is alleged the well-known individual sexually assaulted a teenage girl a "number of years ago", reports The Sun, who say the Metropolitan Police received a crime report about the allegation 21 months ago.

The Premier League chief is said to have attended a police station voluntarily with his solicitor on Monday, June 12. He was interviewed under caution but was not arrested.

Additional enquiries will be made before it is decided whether to charge the individual or take no further action against him.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed: “On Thursday, September 23, 2021, the Met received a crime report regarding a historic rape allegation. On Monday, June 12, a man was interviewed under caution at a police station.”

A source told The Sun that the figure is “shocked by the allegation and totally refutes it”.

The man reportedly met the complainant when she applied to work for an organisation he was connected to at the time. It has been stressed that there is no link to the Premier League club the man currently works for.

The source added: “The allegation goes back quite a few years when the complainant met the suspect after she applied for a job at a place he was involved with. She was a teenage girl at the time and is now a mature woman.”
