Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have promised a huge financial reward for the Dragons players if they secure promotion to the EFL.

Wrexham thrashed Oldham Athletic 5-1 on Saturday to move onto 100 points for the season and look set to be playing League Two football next season.

The Welsh outfit are three points clear of second-placed Notts County but only the league winner secures automatic promotion, with the next six teams slugging it out in the National League play-offs.

A crunch clash against the Magpies on Easter Monday could prove decisive and it's emerged that there's a big incentive in store for Phil Parkinson's side.

After the takeover was completed in February 2021, it was announced that £250,000 promotion bonus was on the table for Wrexham players and would be shared across the squad.

Unfortunately, the team finished outside of the play-offs at the end of the 2020/21 season and could not quite get over the line last term as they were beaten by Grimsby Town in extra time of the play-off semi-finals after finishing second.

They have lost just twice in the league this term, however and after bringing in former England goalkeeper Ben Foster, are very much on course to do the business this time around.

The Hollywood duo bought the club for £2 million and have immersed themselves into the local community, as well as providing serious financial backing.

Their recent financial report revealed a 404% turnover increase from £1.478 million to to nearly £6 million, as well as £2.914 million in losses.

However, promotion back to the promised land will bring in a guaranteed £1.1million in revenue as all League Two clubs receive a share of TV income/sponsorship money as well as a Premier League solidarity payment.

Further funds will arrive from Sky Sports, who pay £20,000 to the home team and £10,000 to the visitors for every game they show.

And then there's the EFL iFollow streaming service, where Wrexham will collect a good chunk of the fee from subscription passes to watch games.
