Xavi has decided to keep Miralem Pjanic at Barcelona for this season, Javi Miguel of Diario AS says. At first, he was one of the players the Catalans wanted to get rid of.
The coach had a personal meeting with the midfielder this Wednesday during which he communicated his decision. Pjanic has to lower his salary in order to continue, though, and he is open to doing so.
Xavi believes that Miralem is the ideal backup to Sergio Busquets. The 32-year-old was given a chance to prove himself during pre-season and he didn't disappoint.
The Bosnian joined Barca in 2020 but his time at Camp Nou hasn't been perfect. Ronald Koeman barely counted on him in his first year, and last season, the midfielder was loaned out to Besiktas.
