Sevilla have accepted Chelsea’s latest offer of around £55m plus add-ons for Jules Kounde, as per Sevilla-based journalist Jose Manuel Garcia.
The Frenchman has also agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League giants.
Chelsea now look set to beat Barcelona to the signing of Kounde after the Spanish side initially looked the favourites to sign him.
Thomas Tuchel has already strengthened his defence with the acquisition of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
Chelsea will hope to complete the Kounde deal soon, so that he can start the Premier League season with them next month.
