The 2023 Asian Games have reached its final leg. All the athletes who were associated with this sporting event have been raking in big bucks. And one of the leading names in this lot is, surprisingly enough, not Sha’Carri Richardson. In fact, it is the 24-year-old track and field star Bahraini Winfred Mutile Yavi.

Yavi is Kenyan-born and has been putting on a great show for the audience this season. Yavi specializes in women’s 1500m and 3000m steeplechases and has kept the spectators on their feet using her phenomenal performance. Just recently, Yavi won the gold in the 3000m steeplechase of 2023 World Athletics held in Budapest. Her overall time was 8:54:29, which was pretty impressive given the record for the same stands at 7:52.11.

Following this, Yavi set yet another record at the 3000m steeplechase at the Diamond League by finishing it with a time of 8:50:66. This was the second fastest timing for the league, and is therefore fairly impressive. Apart from widespread accolades and multiple win at different sporting events, Yavi’s stellar performance has also contributed to the meteoric rise in her bank balance.

According to a source, Bahraini Winfred has raked in close to 2 million dollars with her performance across the globe. The exact figures were not presented, but it is assumed that it was somewhere close to 1.5 million USD.

A source talked to the Kenyan-born track and field wiz and the latter claimed that the money she made this season will go back in training for longer track and field feats like the 5,000 or 10,000 m. And subsequently preparing for the Paris Olympics next year.
