Pakistani sports Presenter Zainab Abbas has found herself in a legal predicament due to her past social media posts. She is presently in India for the ODI World Cup 2023.

Zainab Abbas, a renowned sports presenter hailing from Pakistan, has found herself entangled in a legal predicament due to her past social media activity. As one of the presenters listed by the ICC for the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, her previous online conduct has come under scrutiny.

On Thursday, October 5th, Vineet Jindal, an advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India, lodged a cyber complaint against Zainab. This legal action was initiated following the circulation of alleged old posts from the 35-year-old’s former Twitter account, which were perceived as “anti-Hindu” and “anti-India” on various social media platforms.

The lawyer contended that these offensive tweets, believed to have been posted approximately nine years ago, were originally shared under the username “Zainablovesrk.” It is pertinent to note that Zainab has since updated her Twitter account to “ZAbbas Official,” and this account remains her active profile.

Additionally, Vineet shared a copy of the complaint, detailing the charges against Zainab for derogatory remarks about the Hindu faith and beliefs, as well as for making anti-Bharat statements. The lawyer also tagged the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging them to remove her from the list of presenters in the ongoing mega cricketing event.

In his statement, Vineet called for the registration of an FIR (First Information Report) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act, including sections 153A, 295, 506, 121 IPC, and Section 67 of the IT Act. He asserted that Zainab should be promptly removed from the list of presenters at the ICC World Cup by both the ICC and the BCCI. He further emphasized that individuals with anti-Bharat sentiments are not welcome in India.

With the ICC Men’s World Cup being hosted in India, Zainab Abbas finds it fascinating to observe the cultural similarities that India and Pakistan share, which outweigh their differences. Having been given the opportunity to make a significant impact in India and build her career, the Pakistani presenter expressed her deep humility in hosting the ICC event in India.
