Chelsea move for Manchester United executive who club legend laid into

Chelsea are set to appointed Phil Lynch, a former Manchester United executive who left the Red Devils a month ago, the Daily Mail are reporting.

Lynch was responsible for all of Man U’s media output while there, from MUTV to the app and their social media channels.

The Mail’s report make the interesting claim that he will be the first exec to move from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge since Peter Kenyon kicked off our new era when he arrived in 2003.

Lynch’s most famous moment in the spotlight so far was when Gary Neville slammed him for the way he had drained the life and authenticity out of the players’ social media presence, “creating robots on and off the pitch,” according to the legendary former player.

His role at Chelsea will apparently be as “global head of digital,” working not just for Chelsea but at BlueCo, meaning he will work with Strasbourg and any other future acquisition the group make.
