Helmut Marko Dismiss Potential Domino Effect Of Adrian Newey’s Exit On Red Bull

Due to internal turmoil, the Red Bull racing team is enduring a patchy period. While the team leads the points table, its power struggle has raised questions. It all started with Adrian Newey’s departure. Newey, who felt underappreciated at Milton Keynes, decided to move ahead. However, the Red Bull rivals keenly observed the unrest and were not shy about taking a jibe. While the fear of a mass exodus looms over RBR, the team is calm and composed.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has dismissed all the rumors. All the speculations linking Newey’s exit with a ‘domino effect’ are just agendas to diminish Red Bull’s domination. Earlier, team principal Christian Horner supported the team, expressing his faith in the technical team’s talent.

Marko Confident: Adrian Newey’s Departure Won’t Shake Red Bull’s Foundation

The highly decorated designer and Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey, is set to leave the outfit after April 2025. While his exit seems dramatic, the Red Bull advisor thinks otherwise. However, Newey claimed thirteen world titles with RBR, helping them establish superiority over others. But the 65-year-old engineer was planning to step aside for a while. Moreover, rumors suggest Horner’s sexual misconduct case and Newey’s undervalued efforts were the potential reason for his decision. Newey’s departure will significantly affect the Milton Keynes-based outfit, as he was a key personnel.

On the contrary, Helmut Marko feels the team won’t suffer due to anyone’s exit. In a column for Speedweek, Marko wrote his thoughts about the depth of talent at Red Bull. He said talented minds are ready to step up after the departure, and RBR would continue to thrive. Further, Marko gave insight into Newey’s current Red Bull contract. According to the contract, Newey worked as the CTO for 150 days a year. Thus, he was not a regular participant in the team’s day-to-day endeavors. Hence, people like Pierre Wache, Enrico Balbo, and Ben Waterhouse will play a significant role in the upcoming season. In the end, Marko hailed Newey’s capabilities as a designer and accepted that the team would miss his services.

While Red Bull is undergoing internal unrest, Ferrari and McLaren are gearing up to challenge their dominance. McLaren implemented some modifications ahead of the Miami GP, resulting in a significant performance boost of four-tenths, ultimately leading to Norris’ victory. Despite not driving the upgraded MCL38, Oscar Piastri consistently outperformed Perez and stayed close to Verstappen throughout the race.

As Formula 1 heads to Italy, the home team is conducting tests on their upgrades for the upcoming Emilia Romagna GP. Ferrari’s SF-24 project underwent two filming sessions, allowing the technical team to address any issues. This sets the stage for intense competition among these three contenders, promising an exhilarating weekend for fans.
