CHECKOUT: Anthony Davis Takes A Subtle Dig At Lakers’ Teammate Christian Wood

Anthony Davis asked the front office to add a player like Christian Wood to reduce his workload. That’s what the Los Angeles Lakers did. It took a long time to confirm the news of the signing of Wood, but finally, it’s all good. Wood is in the Lakers, and it seems their chemistry is working just fine. There were many speculations regarding the signing of Christian Wood. Some experts said the Lakers are making a big mistake because Wood has a problem with his attitude. That’s the reason why Wood has never been part of any roster more than two years in a row.

But Christian Wood mentioned that he always wanted to play for the Lakers. Even Darvin Ham said that he does not care about the media speculations on Wood’s character and attitude problems. If Wood is doing justice to the role Ham asked him to play, then there is no problem. Before confirming the news, Rob Pelinka would talk with Wood’s manager every day regarding his contract negotiations. Finally, he is on the roster, and it should help Anthony Davis as well as LeBron James to get some load off their shoulders. Recently, AD was joking about Wood not getting the chance to play in the fourth quarter.

Apparently, Anthony Davis was pushing the front office to sign Wood. The Lakers Faithful would hope that with a reduced workload, Davis may end up playing more than 65 games in the 2023-24 season. The James-Davis duo has been prone to injuries in the last few seasons, and that has cost the team heavily. Hence, Wood’s presence should help a lot and even let AD play at his preferred position rather than at the center. Moreover, Christian Wood also looks more than comfortable in the Lakers locker room.

Recently, Anthony Davis joked about “C Wood.” AD told Dave McMenamin that Wood was missing a lot of free throws and opponents were targeting Wood. They would foul him on purpose. Hence, Anthony Davis said jokingly that it is clear who is not going to play in the fourth quarter. He also mentioned that Christian Wood has to deliver in each quarter with one through 3’s. Clearly, Anthony Davis wanted to roast Christian Wood. Previously, he had said Wood would be very beneficial for the side this season. Hence, Davis believes Christian Wood is very skilled.

Darvin Ham Has A Lot Of Faith In Christian Wood

Lately, in the preseason, data from NBA.com shows C Wood is averaging 7.8 points along with 4.4 rebounds. He has also been shooting 58.3% from the free throw line as well as shooting 25% three-pointers. Hence, Christian Wood needs to improve on his free throw shooting because he has reached a new low in that category recently. He also needs to improve his three-point shooting, as it is the second-lowest mark in his career.

However, Darvin Ham has his back since Wood’s signing. Moreover, the Lakers Head Coach worked with Christian Wood back in their days with the Milwaukee Bucks. Ham has a good impression of the young kid. The Lakers coach mentioned that he does not care what happened back in Dallas with Wood. But Ham says Wood has been doing everything he expects from him. Hence, there is no issue between the two.
