Luis Severino Expects To Be Discarded By Yankees Next Off-Season! Preparing To Meet His Worst Fate

Luis Severino, once regarded as one of the New York Yankees’ brightest pitching stars, is now facing an uncertain future with the team. As the 2023 season draws to a close, Severino is bracing for a potentially disappointing fate. His recent injury woes and inconsistent performance have raised questions about his long-term role in the organization.

Luis Severino has been with the New York Yankees since he was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2011. While expectations were high for his return, the reality has been less than stellar. Persistent injuries have been the biggest bane of Severino’s career. However, this season, the pitcher hit absolute rock bottom and is starting at an imminent exit.

After the 2023 season, Luis Severino will be eligible for free agency. The Yankees must decide whether to extend him a qualifying offer or let him explore the open market. Given his recent performance and the unpredictability of his recovery, it’s unlikely that the Yanks will commit to a long-term, high-dollar contract extension at this point. In an injury-plagued season, the starter has a 6.65 ERA in 18 starts. While he did initiate a comeback late into the season, an oblique injury further ruled him out for the remainder of September. Meanwhile, Severino is recovering, and his oblique feels a lot better than it did during the time of injury. He recently spoke to the media and acknowledged his uncertain future.

Luis Severino believes there is a large chance he could pitch elsewhere next year. “I don’t know what the future’s going to bring to me,” added Severino. While the pitcher loved his time in the Bronx and would like to extend his stay, the reality is exactly the opposite. The Yanks have so far not initiated an extension and offer and are unlikely to do so. Regardless, Severino is happy with the time he has had in New York, and if given a chance, he would do it all over again. “I’ve had a lot of injuries here, but I’ve enjoyed being a Yankee, loved being a Yankee,” said Luis. Whether he can ultimately avoid the worst-case scenario remains uncertain, but the upcoming offseason will undoubtedly be a pivotal moment in his career.

Meanwhile, Yankees top prospect, Jasson Dominguez, who tore his elbow UCL right after his 8th MLB game, underwent a successful Tommy John surgery on Wednesday. Dr. Keith Meister of Arlington, Texas, conducted the surgery, which included an addition of internal bracing. Moreover, the anticipated recovery time issued by the team is 9-10 months.

This means Jasson Dominguez is suspected of missing the first half of the 2024 MLB season. It is devastating for the Yankees as well as the kid, as he proved to be a highly promising talent in his extremely short major league stint. Dominguez slammed four home runs in a mere seven career games to script multiple records. However, it seems fate had a different plan for the Martian.
