After Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso Protests Against FIA Regulation Changes Amid Red Bull Dominance

Red Bull and Max Verstappen are enjoying an unprecedented level of dominance on the F1 grid. Max has won as many as 37 races in the last two and a half years. In the last 25 races, Red Bull has won 24 races. Hence, this dominance has pushed other drivers like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton to the backfoot. The seven-time champion has been winless since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Moreover, Mercedes has been struggling with the development of their car since the introduction of the cost cap era. The Silver Arrows are not as fast as they were in the turbo-hybrid era.

Many teams believe they are facing difficulties in building the car on a limited budget. But Lewis Hamilton, the fourth-place holder, advised F1 to look into the loopholes of the cost cap regulations that led Max Verstappen and Red Bull to dominate in such a fashion. He wished for some new rules to curb some of the powers of the rival team. But the Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff, had mentioned that Red Bull is at the top on the basis of merit. Moreover, F1 must inspire meritocracy and can’t entertain scripted races. However, the two-time champion, Fernando Alonso, most recently agreed with his former teammate.

Fernando Alonso Believes There’s Something Wrong With The Cost Cap Rules

The Spaniard, too, believes that there must be something wrong with the cost cap rules. That’s why Red Bull has been able to dominate in this fashion. Speaking to El Larguero of Cadena Ser, Fernando Alonso mentioned that there are some good things as well as bad things with the new regulations. The new rules have reduced the problem of turbulence, and the teams can follow these cars more closely. But Fernando Alonso believes something definitely did not work as per plan as Red Bull won 24 of the last 25 races.

Later, the Spaniard joked about what the Red Bull team members eat and drink because they are better than everybody at everything. Moreover, Fernando Alonso also sounded afraid of disappointing his fans. After all, there are a lot of movements about the 33. However, Fernando Alonso mentioned the speculation around the elusive victory, and when he achieved it was fine at the beginning. But now it is becoming exhausting.

Red Bull Is Planning To Win The Remaining Races As Well

On the other hand, Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko mentioned the idea of winning all the remaining races of the season is very interesting. It is gradually becoming Red Bull’s one of the most important goals at present. Moreover, the idea of the cost cap rules and regulations was to bring every ten teams closer to make the race more competitive.

However, what happened in reality is that one powerhouse, Red Bull, turned out to be vastly superior to all the other teams. On the other hand, teams like the former champions, Mercedes, lost their grip on the title altogether. However, some teams like Aston Martin, McLaren, and Alpine have performed than in their previous seasons. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso is still the third-place holder on the Driver’s standings.
