He has first-hand witnessed a lot of teams making unlikely runs. While he is not suggesting that the Yanks stand in a position to emulate that, it is, after all, a possibility. The team needs to fix its own house and get back on the winning moments.

Having said that, Boone isn’t exactly wrong with the bold approach. For starters, the AL-East division remains the most competitive division of MLB. With close to 40 games still left on the schedule, the playoff dream is indeed achievable. But it’s easier said than done. Carlos Rodon, the New York Yankees’ prized starter, landed on 15-day IL due to a low-grade hamstring strain. While the early signs pointed towards prolonged absence, the pitcher worked his way to ensure return at the earliest. He will be eligible for activation on Tuesday. Ahead of that, the Yanks have made a roster move to make space for Rodon into the rotation, apparently.
On Thursday, the New York Yankees optioned RHP Randy Vasquez back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Vasquez came in as reinforcement and opened against the Braves on Wednesday. He allowed two runs in three innings but could help the team win. While Randy Vasquez has been impressive so far, his time has not yet arrived in the major league.
