It wasn’t until the 1992 Olympics when The Dream Team was formed, that NBA players were permitted to compete for their nation. LeBron James Wanted To Quit Olympics In 2004!

LeBron James is not only one of the best players in the NBA, but he has also excelled in the Olympic Games. At the quadrennial competition, he represented Team USA three times, winning two gold and one bronze. Throughout his career, the great player has proved himself to be an important component of team USA. Lebron James, though, nearly joined the group of athletes who decided not to represent their nation in front of a worldwide audience.

The way events played out at the 2004 Summer Olympics nearly drove James over the brink. With Team USA taking home a Bronze Medal at the Games, James contemplated ending his affiliation with the group. Meanwhile, prior to the beginning of the NBA season that year, he wished to spend time with his family or just work on his skills. However, he was unable to do so since he was a member of Team USA.

Fortunately, LeBron James changed his mind prior to the 2008 Olympics. He played for Team USA once more. And this time as a member of the 2008 Redeem Team. James did more than just compete for Team USA. He also assisted them in their gold-medal victory. James revealed these surprising details in the recent documentary, The Redeem Team, on Netflix.
