Nikola Vlasic is eager to leave West Ham United this summer with Torino looking to bargain a lower transfer fee to turn his loan into a permanent move, according to The Athletic.

Writing on their website the news outlet revealed that the Croatian international wants to exit the London Stadium after a disappointing first season in England.

He spent last season on loan at Serie A club Torino, but their option to make the deal permanent lapsed in June and they now want to discuss a lower fee with West Ham to sign him.

“Nikola Vlasic, who joined West Ham for £25.7million in August 2021 from CSKA Moscow, wants to leave this summer,” they wrote.

“The midfielder failed to impress at the London Stadium in his debut season with a paltry return of one goal in 31 appearances.

“The 25-year-old joined Italian side Torino on a season-long loan last campaign with a €13m (£11.1m; $14.6m) option to buy. The Croatia international ended the season with five goals and eight assists in 37 appearances.

“But the option to buy clause expired on June 14. Torino intend on negotiating a lower fee for Vlasic.”

Vlasic arrived for a very expensive fee two years ago and nobody was really persuaded that he was going to shine here.

He struggled right away and David Moyes didn’t hesitate in letting him move on the next summer, where he started really well and looked as though there was a player there.

But the second half of the season saw him go back to his old ways and that’s why Torino didn’t trigger the permanent option at the agreed price, so now West Ham have a choice to make.

At this point however it’s clear that the player doesn’t have a future at West Ham as Moyes has given up on him and now the player himself doesn’t want to be here either.

West Ham know they’re going to take a hit on this deal but it’s about not being ripped off and losing too much when a fee was already settled for a deal. A discount could be given, but importantly the player needs to just go at this point.
