‘My International Debut Did Me Good’ — Tella Relishes Maiden Super Eagles Appearance

Nathan Tella admitted playing international football has boosted his morale, reports Completesports.com.

The Bayer Leverkusen player made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Warriors of Zimbabwe last month.

Tella started the keenly contested game played at the Huye Stadium, Butare.

The 24-year-old was replaced after the break by his Leverkusen teammate Victor Boniface.

Despite the Super Eagles failing to win the game, the winger admitted he gained confidence from his first appearance for the Super Eagles.

"The last few weeks have given me a lot of confidence. As a player, you always want to play and to play in the big games, Tella told a press conference ahead of Leverkusen's UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Swedish club, Hacken.

"My international debut also did me good. Now I'm really looking forward to the match tomorrow."

Tella will be desperate to make Nigeria's squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
