The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a new date for the African Football League (AFL) quarter-final second leg match between Wydad Casablanca and Enyimba in Morocco, Completesports.com reports.

In a statement on Enyimba’s X on Tuesday, the second leg game initially billed for Wednesday, 25 October, will now hold Thursday, 26 October by 7pm.

The reason for the shift in date is not unconnected to Enyimba’s inability to fly out to Morocco on Monday.

According to NPFL News on X, Enyimba contingent did not make the trip to Casablanca as earlier scheduled, after the Moroccan Authorities failed to issue a landing permit for a chattered aircraft from the Murtala Mohammed International airport.

The first leg tie played inside the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo ended 1-0 in favour of Wydad.

Enyimba has a player sent off in stoppage time in the encounter.

The African Football League kicked off in October 2023.

It was initially launched as the Africa Super League on 10 August 2022 and was to include twenty-four elite African clubs with a promotion/relegation system, but is scaled down to eight teams for its inaugural campaign.

It will run alongside CAF's other main club competition, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
