Super Eagles 2026 W/Cup Qualifying Opponent South Africa To Play Two Friendly Games

Nigeria’s Super Eagles Group C opponent in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Bafana Bafana of South Africa, will take on Namibia and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)in two friendly games.

South Africa will first take on Namibia today (Saturday) at the Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg.

Then on Tuesday, 12 September, they will host DRC also at the Orlando Stadium.

South Africa are not in action in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this international window after already securing their ticket from Group K.

The 1996 AFCON winners currently top the group but could lose top spot to Morocco if the Atlas Lions beat already eliminated Liberia in their last game.

The Super Eagles and South Africa are in Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which will begin in November this year.

Other teams in the group are Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Benin Republic and Lesotho.

The last time the Super Eagles and South Africa were in the same group in the World Cup qualifiers was in the race for the 1994 edition in USA.

Both teams were drawn together with Congo Brazzaville in the first round of the qualifiers.

After securing a comfortable 4-0 win inside the National Stadium in Lagos, the Eagles held South Africa to a goalless draw in the return leg at the FNB in Johannesburg.
