Ten Hag Overlooked As Arteta, Guardiola, Battle For EPL Manager Of The Season Award

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Arsenal gaffer Mikel Arteta are in the running for the Premier League Manager of the Season award.

Both managers are in a six-man shortlist published on the Premier League’s Twitter handle on Thursday.

Also nominated are Unai Emery of Aston Villa, Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and Marco Silva of Fulham.

Guardiola is in the running to become only the second manager in Premier League history, after Sir Alex Ferguson, to win as many as four Barclays Manager of the Season awards.

His Manchester City side are on track for an historic treble.

However, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was overlooked for the award despite leading his side to win the Carabao Cup this season.

Also the Netherlands coach has a chance of picking up his second trophy of the season when United face City in the FA Cup final.

In the Player of the Season category, seven players have been nominated.

The players are City duo Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard of Arsenal, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier of Newcastle and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

For the Young Player award, Saka, Odegaard, Haaland, Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Moises Caicedo (Brighton), Sven Botman (Newcastle United), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton) are nominated.

Votes by fans would decide the winners in each of the three categories for the awards.
