Exclusive: ‘I’ll Be Back Soon, Watford Will Return To Premier League Next Season’ –Kalu

Nigeria international, Samuel Kalu, has warned English Championship teams that his club Watford FC are raring to fight and gain promotion back to the Premier League next season after their relegation in the 2021/2022 campaign, Completesports.com reports.

The former Bordeaux of France winger who has not tasted league action this season due to injury told Completesports.com in an exclusive interview that the players and management of the London side are determined to make a swift return to the Premiership.

"It was unfortunate that we were relegated last season. We gave it our all but it just did not work out for us. But this season, we are determined to make amends," Kalu told Completesports.com.

"We have resolved as a team to give 200% in every match and training session in order to bring out the best in us so as to return to where we belong in the Premiership.

"Fortunately, we were able to retain the core of the team that played with us last season even though we lost Emmanuel Dennis to Nottingham Forest. With that continuity, we already have an understanding of each other which makes the task a lot easier."

Speaking on his unavailability in the meantime, Kalu expressed strong optimism that he would be back soon and strong to play his part in the Hornets' quest to make a fast return to the English top flight.

"Yes, I have been down with an injury but sooner rather than later, I hope to be back to contribute my quota to Watford's promotion. I am confident that we will be back in the Premier League next season. What God cannot do does not exist!" Kalu enthused.

Kalu joined Watford in January 2022. Unfortunately, injury restricted him to only four games and unused substitute roles for the Hornets in the Premier League games before the curtain was drawn on the 2021/2022 campaign. He has sat out Watford's eight games so far in the 2022/2023 Sky Bet Championship campaign. He is however optimistic that his fitness recovery program will become a complete success soon.

Kalu has played 17 times for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and has two international goals to his name.

Watford are currently in the sixth position in the 24-team Sky Bet Championship, on 13 points, after eight rounds of fixtures.
