Eddie Alvarez Says Former UFC Matchmaker Joe Silva Didn’t Want Him To Fight For The Title

Interesting stories have been emerging recently with fighters sharing their interactions with former UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva.

It turns out that some fighters really didn’t get along with Silva and many former UFC fighters such as Jon Fitch, Gray Maynard and Mike Pierce took to Twitter to share their sour interactions with Silva.

Joe Silva was very influential in the UFC being the matchmaker for the promotion from 1997 to 2016 and therefore could demand a lot from the fighters. Probably the highest profile name to share his negative interaction with Silva is now former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Alvarez started by hinting that he had his own story with Silva but suggested he wasn’t going to say anything. After some encouragement from fans, Alvarez tweeted his story which suggests that Silva laughed off Alvarez’s request for a title shot and left him feeling somewhat embarrassed. Below is the full thread of Tweets from Alvarez explaining his side of the story.
