Dana White Is Unsure What To Do For Anderson Silva’s Last Two Fights

As the oldest fighter on the roster, the legendary career of Anderson Silva is beginning to wind down. The 45-year-old Brazilian has done everything there is to do in the sport of MMA, but he continues to compete out of sheer passion for the fighting.

That being said, Silva still has two-fights left on his contract and it begs the question, who will “The Spider” fight to close out his career? There have been some discussions on social media of Silva’s penultimate fight being against former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis.

Stylistically the two flashy strikers would likely put on a great show for the fans but the difference in size would be very noticeable. Silva would head into the bout with a 4-inch height and a 5-inch reach advantage over Pettis who has competed as low as 145lbs.

UFC President Dana White told ESPN the large size difference between the pair is exactly why he’s not so keen on the fight. White also said that if the fight had more meaning then he would be more likely to book it.

“I’m going to tell you why I’m not crazy [about that fight]. You got a guy that fought at 145lbs at one time and a guy who’s in the conversation for GOAT at 185lbs and walks around at 210 – 215lbs.

And it’s not a big fight that really means something. I like making fights that mean something so I’m not crazy about that fight.”

White was then asked how he would like to match Silva up for these last two fights and the best way to close out his career but White simply is unsure of that himself at the moment.

“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what to do with his last two fights. When Anderson’s really ready to fight, we’ll sit down and look at it and we’ll figure out what we think makes sense for him next. There’s a lot of things in the decision-making process with an Anderson Silva: his age, what he gets paid, all that stuff is important.”
