It’s been a busy few days for the Vancouver Canucks off the ice.

The Nikita Tryamkin saga is over (we think)

Based on the barrage of Tryamkin discussion that’s taken place over the past four years, it’s been a looooong time since he played an NHL.

However, more than four years after he last played a game for the Canucks, it looks like Tryamkin’s days with the organization are officially over.

Tryamkin has signed a two-year deal to remain with his hometown team, Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist, in the KHL. The deal means that Tryamkin would be 29 years old the next time he wanted to return to the NHL.

It’s unclear how much Tryamkin’s new deal is worth, but reporting from Ben Kuzma and The Province shed some light on the logistics of KHL salaries.

“KHL salaries range from US$100,000 to $1.2 million a season, but centre Vadim Shipachyov of Moscow Dynamo was reportedly earning the league’s richest contract at US$1.757 million annually, while the top-paid defenceman was Philip Larsen at US$1.04 million.”

I would assume that Tryamkin is probably closer to Philip Larsen money than the $100,000 mark. If that’s the case, why uproot your family and move them across the world if it doesn’t make sense financially? As horny as Benning is for Tryamkin, I can’t think he would have offered him much more than $1 million per season.

Jonah Gadjovich to join Canucks

After Kole Lind made his NHL debut last week, it looks like another member of the Canucks 2017 draft class is prepared to make his debut.

Jonah Gadjovich was recalled by the team over the weekend, after scoring 15 goals in 19 games for the Utica Comets this season.

While it’s important to know that Gadjovich (and any AHL player, for that matter) are facing lesser competition this year, it’s still an impressive showing from the 22-year-old.

Gadjovich is eligible to be claimed in the Seattle expansion draft, so it makes sense to see what the Canucks have in the winger before the end of the season.

Virtanen placed on leave

After allegations of sexual assault emerged last week, the Canucks placed Jake Virtanen on leave.

Glacier media spoke to the woman who was behind these allegations.

“I couldn’t believe that I said no and he didn’t take that for an answer,” she says. “I felt violated and gross and wanted to leave.”

The incident reportedly took place in September of 2017.
