Wake With Elias: Toffoli Hobbling, King Loui & Alien Magic

Celebrate with us after the most meaningful Canucks win in five years.

It won’t be a sweep, and you can thank the Alien Commander for that.

The Vancouver Canucks looked like a hockey team with a lethal top-six offence on Tuesday night. After being shut out in Game One, they were managed to get four goals from their top-six players in Game Two.

Many different guys deserve credit for the win, but make sure that once you wake up this morning, you wake with Elias and thank the damn alien for being the man.

There are some saying that this was a dirty play by Pettersson. To those I say, have you ever had five grown ass men simultaneously try to pummel for you an hour straight before?

Don’t F with Pettersson.

  • Go give Jimmi some love for the wittiest Canucks recap you’ll read. [Nucks Misconduct]
  • Sippin’ on a 40 host Kyle Bhawan was also at it in the PostedUp studio with Nick Bondi following the game. He had returning guest to the network and former TSN employee Grady Sas on the program. I guess you could say he’s a friend of the show now.

A great episode from the three personalities after celebrating the most Meaningful Canucks Win in five years.

  • With these new Unfit to Play rules, the general public didn’t learn about Tyler Toffoli and Adam Gaudette being turfed from the line-up until about an hour before the game.

Later last night, TSN reported that Toffoli was seen in a walking boot. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of the line-up for.

Travis Green later said in his post-game press conference that Gaudette was also “Unfit to Play.”

  • Speaking of injuries, Micheal Ferland also left after blocking a shot in the first period. Later in the game Antoine Roussel would leave as well after a Jake Virtanen slap shot caught him up high above the neck. No word on their status for Game Three.
  • One more tidbit from last night. After that game by Loui Eriksson, I’m changing his moniker from “Uncle Loui” to “King Loui.”

He racked up more than 20 minutes of ice time last night, and he led THE ENTIRE TEAM in even-strength ice time.

Not just the forwards, the entire team.

  • In other semi-Canuck news, good riddance to Brendan Leipsic, who found himself out of a job in Washington after his tasteless and offensive comments from a group chat were made public.

Don’t expect to see him in the NHL, well, ever again. He just signed a one-year deal with CKSA Moscow of the KHL. [CBC]

  • The New York Rangers became the first team to be eliminated from the Stanley Cup Qualifiers yesterday after the Carolina Hurricanes strolled to a 4-1 victory. Then, they celebrated by trolling the Rangers, their fans, and Don Cherry. [Sporting News]
  • Finally, just a heads up if you haven’t heard already that the Canucks next game is at 11:30 am tomorrow morning.

You can’t really call in sick in 2020 without taking two weeks off, but maybe that’s not a bad situation for the truest of hockey nuts out there.

If you’re not already, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more news and notes on the Canucks.
