The NHL announced two more sets of awards finalists yesterday, and for the 3rd consecutive season, the Vancouver Canucks have a player nominated for the Calder Trophy as Quinn Hughes joined Colorado Avalanche D Cale Makar and Chicago Blackhawks LW Dominik Kubalik as the trio up for the award. Hughes and Makar have been the front runners all season long, but Kubalik’s inclusion was a bit of a surprise. Not that his play didn’t warrant it, because a 30 goal season from a rookie is impressive in today’s game, but many felt New York Rangers D Adam Fox would be the 3rd nominee. It’s unlikely that Kubalik will win, especially given his age (he’s 24) compared to Hughes and Makar, and his extensive pro experience in his native Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, the Jack Adams nominees were also announced, and former Canucks bench bosses Alain Vigneault and John Tortorella were nominated along with Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy.
There were a couple significant absences from Day 3 of Canucks Camp yesterday, as Michael Ferland and Brandon Sutter were absent. Travis Green spoke about them after practice yesterday:

Meanwhile, one of the players most at risk in this pandemic scenario, Oscar Lindblom of the Philadelphia Flyers, spoke with Sports Illustrated about his ongoing cancer treatment:
