Backup Beggsy goes around the NHL on a Saturday morning.

Kent is busy plotting on how to stick some stinky salmon in the hub caps of Brad Marchand’s rental car prior to tonight’s game, so backup Beggsy gets the nod for The Roundup.

Canucks News: With the Boston Bruins coming to town on Saturday night, 2011 reared it’s ugly head once again.

Ben Kuzma of The Province kicked it off with an article focused on everyone’s favourite pest, Brad Marchand. He first asked Alex Edler if he was still licking his wounds from 2011 before segwaying to the face-licker himself in Marchand. Here’s what the Bruins winger had to say about the series.

“I think maybe it’s more for the fans and the media than anything,” Marchand said to The Province. “But it’s always a good feeling going back in that arena, for sure. I’m not liked very much in that city. But it’s still fun to go there.”

Kuz also startled myself and the rest of this market with the article titled: “Doctor worried Canucks’ Pettersson may have suffered more than concussion.”

Not sure if I’m a fan of the title since, to me, it insinuates that Canucks doctors are worried about Pettersson’s current status. Maybe that’s just me and I freaked out too fast but hey, all I want is to see Pettersson back in the lineup.

Kuzma’s article wasn’t actually from a chat with Canucks doctors, but from a local doctor who’s speculating that Pettersson’s injury could be worse than we intended. His takes are interesting to read, but the editors skewed towards the “click me” route, in my opinion.

Around the League: Despite raising a hilariously embarrassing “participation” banner, the Predators have gone right back to playing like Stanley Cup contenders.

They kept that up against the Calgary Flames last night with a 5-3 win. Ryan Johansen scored less than a minute into the game, and Zac Rinaldo scored the game winner during a 2-1 breakaway in the third period.

The win bumps the Predators to 6-1 on the season. They currently look stronger than the Winnipeg Jets team that just faced the Canucks, and the depth throughout their lineup remains tops in the league.

One team who has disappointed early on has been the Dallas Stars. A 3-4 record isn’t a huge cause for concern, but the same problems persist with this team. They get Scoring from their top guns, but secondary scoring is sparse. Jason Spezza did step in with the Stars lone goal during a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild, but it was a rare moment of someone other than Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Alex Radulov stepping up.

Through seven Stars games, Benn, Seguin, Radulov and John Klingberg have 15 goals and 34 points. The rest of the team combined have four goals and 21 points.

Speaking of goals, the Panthers and Capitals have both been scoring in bunches. Despite scoring 3.4 goals per game, it took the Panthers until last night to get their first win of the season, as they beat the Capitals 6-5 in a shootout. Even then, they blew a three goal lead before winning in the skills contest. Not an ideal start for the Panthers, who sorely miss the 39-year-old Roberto Luongo. With Luongo on the sidelines, James Reimer and Michael Hutchinson have allowed 19 goals. They have a combined .859 save percentage in relief with less than five games of work under their belt. Yikes.
