Dhoni catastrophic injury and the absence of this pacer for the next two weeks, Chennai could suffer a significant setback

On Wednesday, the Chennai Super Kings were defeated at home by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023. The team was unable to recover from the result of this match, and Chennai coach Stephen Fleming dealt another blow. Fleming stated after the play against Rajasthan that team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is suffering from a knee issue that is hampering his performance.

Dhoni suffered a knee Injury in the tournament’s first encounter, against Gujarat Titans. He was then spotted limping during the next games. He has, however, played in all four Chennai matches. CSK has won two and lost two matches so far this season.

Simultaneously, South African pacer Sisanda Magala, who replaced Kyle Jameson on the lineup, has been ruled out of the event for the next two weeks owing to injury. During the match against Rajasthan, he suffered a finger injury (split webbing) when taking a catch while fielding.

What did Fleming think of Dhoni?
According to Fleming, Dhoni is suffering from a knee ailment, which can be seen in some of his movements. To some extent, this injury is causing him troubles. He has worked as a personal trainer. He joins the team months before the event begins. He had a few nets sessions in Ranchi, but his main concentration is on pre-season practise. Fleming, on the other hand, expressed faith that the former India captain will manage his injury effectively and continue to lead the squad.

Fleming seems dissatisfied with Magala’s injury
Fleming assuaged Dhoni’s fitness fears by stating that he is working his way back to match fitness. He’s still playing pretty well, as you can see. Simultaneously, Sisanda Magala had to leave the pitch after bowling two overs against Rajasthan due to an injury. Fleming stated, “Once again, a player for us has been injured.” This is the second time this has happened. We are already short on players, so I would like to see this injury cycle end.

CSK injured players has increased
The list of Csk Injured Players is growing by the day. England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was bought for Rs 16.25 crore in the IPL auction, has been ruled out of a few games due to a heel ailment, while Mumbai Indians pacer Deepak Chahar has a hamstring issue. Deepak is reported to have been ruled out of the team for the full season. Deepak Chahar, on the other hand, is just gone for a few weeks, according to Fleming. At the same time, Stokes’ condition is being monitored on a daily basis.

Next encounter for CSK is against Bangalore
‘During the New Zealand tour, Sri Lankan pacer Mathisha Pathirana had to cope with Kovid-19,’ Fleming said. He is now, however, fine and available for selection to the team. We don’t want to put them in a hurry. CSK were plagued with injuries even before the tournament began, not just Stokes and Deepak Chahar. Kyle Jamieson and Mukesh Chowdhary were both ruled out owing to injuries. The Chennai Super Kings will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17th in Bengaluru.
