Flipkart’s Chief People Officer, “There would be no widespread layoffs”

Despite the fact that large software and information technology businesses are continuing to implement widespread layoffs, Flipkart has determined that it would NOT follow suit and reduce the number of positions it employs. It has been reported that Flipkart’s Chief People Officer Krishna Raghavan has declared that the company does not intend to conduct any widespread layoffs.
In an interview with livemint.com, the Chief People Officer (CPO) of Flipkart indicated that the company engages in sensible recruiting practices’ and that “there are no mass layoffs happening at Flipkart.”

“We don’t hire in thousands and then end up realising that we have too many people on board and resorting to extreme measures,” said Raghavan to Live Mint. “We don’t want to be in that position.”

The Chief Operating Officer also emphasised that there will be no delay in the process of onboarding newly graduated students who were recruited through placement drives at engineering and business institutions.
According to Raghavan, all of these new graduates will be ready to join the Flipkart workforce in June of 2023. Flipkart now employs more than 15,000 individuals across its many departments.
Additionally, the e-commerce behemoth announced in February 2023 that around 5000 employees at Flipkart will not be receiving raises in their pay. It was indicated back then by the Chief People Officer that employees with Grade 10 or higher would not be receiving any wage increases during this year’s fiscal year.

Flipkart has not suffered the fallout that was anticipated as a result of this move, which was anticipated to lead to a wave of mass resignations. Raghavan has mentioned that the choice was arrived at after careful consideration and preparation, and as a result, there would not be a great deal of turnover.
The news that Flipkart will not be participating in the current round of widespread layoffs is met with a sigh of relief. Countless IT and technology behemoths, including Amazon, Microsoft, Accenture, and many more, have fired thousands upon thousands of employees. According to various accounts, over the course of the last three months, these employment cuts have resulted in the termination of around 1.5 lakh workers.
