Information reaching Us l, has it that the Promotion is planning to stage the event at the UFC Apex, which is located in Las Vegas. However this will be dependent on if Hooker, will be able to fly into the US from New Zealand and the lifting of the Travel restrictions caused by the Corona Virus pandemic. However, if Hooker fails to successfully travel to the US, the Promotion will postpone the date to another in July.

Poirier is presently ranked third in the latest Lightweight rankings and in his last outing came up short to becoming the undisputed champion in the division in his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov back in UFC 242 in September last year. However, despite his recent issues with getting an exciting fight, which has prompted his push for an adventure in the welterweight division, Poirier will be staying in the lightweight division for at least one more fight.

Hooker on the other hand will be hoping to win with less controversy in his second headlining bout in a row. Hooker edged Paul Fielder with a split decision in his hometown headlining bout at UFC on ESPN+ 26 earlier this year in New Zealand.

The decision was debated by many but the results stood and in the aftermath, Hooker called out Dustin Poirier and the UFC made May 16th available but due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the date got cancelled but they could still get their wish this Summer.
