Australian summer tennis events to start in December with key players

In Australia’s summer of tennis, the top players from the world will be competing across the country until January. As players get ready for the 112th Australian Open, important tournaments will be held in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, and Canberra.

Major tennis competitions from across the world will be held in seven Australian cities in the upcoming summer. The United Cup, which begins on December 29 in Perth and Sydney, marks the beginning of the international tennis season.

Following their recent performances and encounters at Wimbledon and the US Open, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will be considered as the tournament favorites for the first slam of the year at the Australian Open.

Now the world no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 15th of September when he defeated world no.25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-4 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).

This year Djokovic has managed to achieve an overall 46-5 win-loss record. Djokovic has won 5 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati and U.S. Open. The Serbian was the runner-up in Wimbledon.

Ranked no.2, Alcaraz played his last match on the 8th of September when he was defeated by world no.3 Daniil Medvedev 7-6(3) 6-1 3-6 6-3 in the semifinal of the U.S. Open (draw).

Currently, during this year Carlos has managed to achieve an overall 58-7 record. Carlos conquered 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. The Spaniard reached the final in Rio de Janeiro and Cincinnati.

Alcaraz will compete next in Beijing (China Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 28th of September.
