Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics won the Atlantic Division last year, but fell short of their ultimate goal of the NBA Finals, after losing in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat. This year, the Celtics have once again clinched the Atlantic, as well as the best regular season record in the NBA for the 2023-24 season. The question now will be whether or not the Celtics can deliver as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference and win their first title with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as well.

New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are finally putting things together, after finishing third in the Atlantic Division a season ago. Jalen Brunson’s signing was a home run for them this past year, as he emerged as one of the game’s great crunch-time scorers. While the Knicks are playoff-bound, injuries to Julius Randle and OG Anunoby have raised questions as to whether or not this team can be a serious threat to the Celtics and Bucks.

Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia finished third in the Nba Atlantic Division this season. Joel Embiid is clearly one of the best players in the NBA. But his health is far from a given, as Embiid has missed some significant time already this season, even if he is back for the postseason. Philly is in the play-in tournament to start postseason play but things will be tough for them thanks to their seeding even if they make it to the first round of the playoffs.

Brooklyn Nets

It was a disaster of a season for the Brooklyn Nets last season, as they finished fourth in the Atlantic. They traded away Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, and the remaining Nets were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets are struggling again this season, as leaning on Mikal Bridges as their top star has not yet paid the dividends they had hoped it would. But the Nets are not in last place in this division, which is a small silver lining.

Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors finished in last place in the Atlantic Division at 41-41 in the 2022-23 campaign. They lost at home in the first round of the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, thanks in large part to DeMar DeRozan’s daughter distracting them at the free throw line. This year, they have all but thrown in the towel on the current version of their franchise, trading away OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam in what has turned into an effort to rebuild their franchise.
