Offseason Transactions

Key Additions: Deandre Ayton, Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III, Scoot Henderson

Key Departures: Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic

The Trail Blazers made drastic changes in the offseason, and we will find out if they are for the better or worse soon. Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic are gone, while several new faces are in, led by Deandre Ayton. Drafting Scoot Henderson and immediately giving him the keys to the franchise at the point guard spot will be incredibly interesting, and could help turn Henderson into one of the great young players in the league right away.

Positives & Negatives

From a positive perspective, the Trail Blazers have some optimism going into this year. While there are a ton of new pieces that will need to learn to work together, things can’t go much worse than they have over the last few seasons. The pairing of Ayton and Williams could be very good on the interior for this team, while Brogdon and Henderson could turn into a formidable guard duo.

As far as negatives go, the Trail Blazers have lost a generational talent in Lillard, which is never a good thing. But the Trail Blazers could turn this negative into a positive, as they should be tougher on the defensive end of the floor and will be able to give their latest first-round draft pick plenty of playing time because of this maneuver.

While there is a lot of negativity surrounding the Trail Blazers going into this season, we like them to go over their season win total. Portland should be a perfectly respectable team this season, as they got some massive hauls for Lillard, and then for Jrue Holiday after they acquired him from the Bucks. Look for a respectable, albeit unspectacular, season in Portland.
